The Kiso Acoustic HB-1 is more than just another high-end loudspeaker. Nor is it about arbitrarily chosen drivers, or unnecessarily complex crossovers made of nondescript components that can rob life and speed from the sound.
Instead, relying on decades of experience, veteran musical instrument builders craft the HB-1’s cabinet from thin, light, top-quality tone-woods that are cannily braced, shaped and floated, to create the most pleasing reverberant qualities possible. Careful internal shaping and profiling of the cabinet has allowed conventional acoustic damping to be completely eliminated.
Specially adopted and customized drive-units go through exhaustive testing and selection processes, both by ear and computerized measurement equipment. The crossover network was developed through a combination of veteran loudspeaker-design know-how and expert operation of the latest hardware and software tools, and its components were chosen from the finest film-capacitors, air-core coils and wire-wound resistors based on extensive listening tests. The perfectly synchronized, time-aligned sound is achieved through its reverberant musical instrument-inspired cabinet and the superbly matched driver and crossover complement.
